Fog disturbs air, road traffic in Punjab

Fog disturbs air, road traffic in Punjab ISLAMABAD: Extreme fog has caused massive disturbance to traffic flow on roads and flight schedule in the federal capital and some areas of Punjab, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

The twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were enveloped by thick fog. The traffic flow to the federal capital is slow-paced with flights delayed at Benazir International Airport as well. Some flights were diverted to Lahore.

Plains of Punjab remained in the grip of severe cold wave and foggy weather on, disturbing normal routine life by hampering vehicular movement on roads besides causing inordinate delay in arrival and departure of flights.

Dense fog also caused closure of Motorway and a number of important inter-city arteries, creating problems for the commuters.

The mist has covered several cities of Punjab for last few days, however the fog receding from provincial capital Lahore helping in restoration of normal traffic though the motorway has been closed at various points.

Also, air travelers are facing troubles in Peshawar with flight schedule getting upset.
According to Met Department, spell of fog will continue for one week.
